Keskustaopiskelijat hakevat yhtä edustajaa LYMEC:n No visas for tourists and students – Europe is our home -seminaariin Brysseliin 28.2-2.3.2007.

Hakemukset toimitetaan sähköisesti pääsihteeri Panu Litmaselle osoitteeseen paasihteeri[at]keskustaopiskelijat.fi ma 29.1.2007 klo 16 mennessä. Tapahtuman omavastuu on 60 euroa.

Lähtijältä velvoitetaan hyvää englannin kielen osaamista, aktiivisuutta Keskustaopiskelijoissa, hyviä sosiaalisia taitoja ja sopeutumiskykyä. Osallistujan pitää pystyä viemään myös oppimaansa eteenpäin keskustajärjestöissä.

Kv-toimija -koulutus katsotaan eduksi, mutta se ei ole pakollinen.

Keskustaopiskelijat ohjeistavat delegaatin ennen matkalle lähtöä.

Vapaamuotoiset hakemukset tehdään englanniksi.

Hakemuksesta tulee ilmetä seuraavat seikat:

- Kielitaito
- Harrastuneisuus Keskustanuorissa tai Keskustaopiskelijoissa
- Kiinnostus matkan aihetta ja projektia kohtaan

Invitation to LYMEC Conference “No visas for tourists and students – Europe is our home”

Dear liberal friends,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the LYMEC Conference “No visas for tourists and students – Europe is our home” taking place in the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium from 28 February – 2 March 2007.

Over the years, in our work as a European youth organisation we had the misfortune to observe the great obstacles put in front of a number of young people who simply wished to cross their country’s bordes, especially the Schengen border. The variety of problems we witnessed stretched from huge administrative barriers to strict rejections based on the nationality or unclear reasons.

In 2006, LYMEC launched a Europe-wide campaign “No visa – Europe is our home” aiming at the abolishment of tourist and student visas within the European continent. Again, we decided to stand at the forefront of liberal politics in Europe committed to a number of issues to make Europe freer and more political. We raised our voice for many young people from outside of the Union wanting to travel to EU on vacations or studies, because we strongly believe that visa regime affects negatively the youth mobility inside the European continent and is a serious obstacle to the birth of a European civil society.

The wall of visas built around the Union creates the feeling of isolation and rejection of the ones on the other side of that wall, the same ones to whom we whish to give a European perspective.

We feel that the liberation of free travel should begin immediately with the countries that have been given concrete prospect of European membership, such as the countries of Western Balkans. Continuing from there on, visa regimes should be progressively abolished with other European countries as well.
